Flashback Friday – Spirit Week

Well, it’s that time again. Let’s zoom back to this very week. Mackenzie is a senior in high school this year. I’m not ready. But hey, this isn’t a post about that. Trust me, you will read plenty of those whiney posts as the year progresses.

Let’s move on. As a lead up to the Homecoming football game tonight and dance tomorrow night, the school celebrates Spirit Week by having a different dress up theme for each day. Mackenzie has never participated in this before. Funny how being a senior changes the game a little.

Monday – My little girl is a Super Hero. The Green Lantern, to be exact. (I hate to admit that I just don’t know who this is. Ooops.)

Tuesday – Country Club day. Mackenzie asked me what country club people looked like. (That’s a little telling, wouldn’t you say?) I told her that they are people who sit by the pool or play tennis, and they do lunch a lot, all the while being very rich and not getting their hands dirty. I think she nailed it. What do you think? Meet my daughter, Buffy.

Her boyfriend also played along. Allow me to introduce you to Biff.

Wednesday – Occupation Day. My dear daughter chose to be a park ranger. See the squirrel on her shoulder? I’m sure this is common practice for actual park rangers.

Thursday – Military Day. Camo shirt, Marines jacket and tightly pulled back hair. No, she didn’t take any grenades with her. The school frowns upon that sort of thing.

Friday – Spirit Day. All decked out in school blue. Now, let’s win that game tonight!
